Our passion for music is evident in our lives. Our desires guide our travels to switch routes or lead us in directions for the sole purpose of catching one of our favorite bands. When music pairs with another important aspect of who we are, spreading good karma by helping others, we know we are being lead in the right direction.
Conscious Alliance is set up at many of the music events we go to. This particular instance they were scheduled to be the beneficiary of the Kyle Hollingsworth Brew Fest in Denver, Colorado, the keyboardist of the String Cheese Incident. Conscious Alliance is a 501c3 non-profit that supports communities in crisis. When they have food drives the first “x” amount of people who donate will receive an event specific poster of that concert/band in exchange for the food or monetary donation. They generate interest through art to help their cause called, “Art that Feeds.” Also, the cans will go to a local “Feeding America” food bank relative to where they were collected. For instance, at Electric Forest Festival in Michigan the food went to the Rothbury, Michigan community. Below is a repost from a dear friend who hobbled over to their tent at Peach Festival to donate 40 goods (20 from the Gypsy Givers and 20 from her) in exchange for some sweet art!
They also empower youth in impoverished regions and economically isolated Native American Reservations with workshops. Their dedication and openhearted alliance to providing the basic necessities of life to those in need is a mutual passion. We are honored to unify efforts at this particular concert.
Excitedly, we were able to have our honorary gypsy sister, Melissa, with us for this fun volunteer experience. We were in charge of manning the booth at the Brew Fest, collecting monetary donations, helping to raffle off some items, overseeing the silent auction of a hand painted piece of art as well as share knowledge about the organization.
All the while still enjoying the sounds of the band and a taste of beer from over a dozen Colorado breweries.
We now have a better understanding of all they do across the United States and we are honored to be part of their close-knit family of staff and volunteers.
We can’t wait to join forces with them again and spread the word about all the admirable efforts of Conscious Alliance.
